SCHOOL DISTRICT ORGANIZATION

The area of Administrative School District No. 10 is approximately 150 square miles bordering the Pacific Ocean on the north Oregon coast for 26 miles. There is one unified high school/middle school and one elementary school in Seaside.

 

COMMUNITY

Seaside High School is located in Seaside, Oregon, a small resort community of about 5,400. The main industry is tourism with lumber and fishing industries in the surrounding areas.

 

FACULTY

Principal, Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, Nurse, 3 Learning Specialists, 1 Life Skills Instructor, 3 Counselors, and 29 Teachers, all highly qualified as defined by No Child Left Behind.

 

ORGANIZATION

Seaside High School is a comprehensive public high school composed of grades 9-12 with an enrollment of 502 students; approximate average class size of 28; 12,000 volume library with various electronic research options; 600 computers available for classroom or individual student use; accredited by the Northwest Association of Secondary and High Schools and a member of the Oregon School Activities Association and the Pacific Northwest Association of College Admissions Counselors; average size of senior class: 101.

 

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Students must earn a total of 25 credits to earn an academic diploma. At this time we have a trimester schedule (3 term, 4 class per day schedule). One-half unit (.50) is earned by completing one class for 12 weeks. The following minimum requirements must be included in the units; Language Arts, 4 units; Mathematics, 3 units; Science, 3 units; Health, 1 unit; Physical Education, 1 unit; Social Studies, 3 units; Career and Technical Education, Fine Arts, or Foreign Language, 3 units. GRADING SYSTEM

All classes are weighted equally in computing the grade point average. Class rank is determined by the cumulative grade point average from ninth grade through the most recent term grading period. Total class enrollment is used in computing the class rank.

A (4 grade points) Excellent

B (3 grade points) Above average

C (2 grade points) Average

D (1 grade points) Below average

F (0 grade points) Failure, no credit earned, computed in GPA and rank

P (0 grade points) Pass, credit earned, represents a grade of C or higher, not computed in GPA WF (0 grade points) Withdrawal F – withdrew from class before end of term, computed in GPA and rank
